How We Calculate Measurements

It is vitally important that your photo is well taken, the measuring device is clearly visible and the entire fish can be clearly viewed.

JustFishTournaments.com staff uses software to help us determine very accurate measurements by looking at digital images. Using the software, we can calculate the lengths within 1/10th of an inch (or better). It is very important that the photo be of a high quality and resolution in order to gives us the most accurate measurement.

This is a properly submitted Redfish that is 26.5 inches.
This Fish receives 265 JustFish points.

The software allows us to zoom in very close the nose and tail of the fish, and it allows us to place the "Inch Tool" to determine an accurate reading on the measuring device.

This is a properly submitted flounder that is 21.9 inches.
This fish recieves 219 JustFish Points.

If a standard tape measure is used then we will calculate the measurement from where the nose (or bottom lip depending on fish type) is aligned with the tape measure, so it is not necessary to put the fish’ nose at the Zero Mark.

If you use a Florida Sportsman law stick/sticker or an contractor grade self-retracting tape ALL THE NUMBERS ON THE DEVICE must be visible in the photo; it is important when taking photos that the measuring device be placed above or below the fish. DO NOT place the fish on top of the measuring device (unless a hard board measuring device is used -- see measuring devices).

JustFishTournaments.com requires the entire fish be in the photo. If any part of the fish is left out of the photo we can either disqualify you or only give you credit for the inches that are visible and clear.

JustFishTournaments.com staff makes the final judgment call on each submission.
