There are proper and improper ways to measure fish. Taking good pictures is the most important aspect of photo-tournaments. Below are the approved methods to measure fish for the purpose of JustFishTournaments.com. JustFishtournaments.com goes by the FWC standard “total length” measuring of saltwater and freshwater fish.

For Our Photo-Tournaments it is very important to follow these instructions.
* The entire fish must be visible in both photos. (we require 2 photos for proper verification - see below)
* The photo of "fish with measuring device" should be taken from directly above the fish.
* The fish should not be stretched, bent, or manipulated in any way to enhance the fish length.
* Fish should be in a natural lay position and the tail may be pinched (pinched tail is required in SLOT tournaments.)
* The fish and measuring device should be on a flat surface.
* The token MUST be clearly visible in the "fish with measuring device" photo.
Proper Techniques
JustFishTournaments.com requires 2 photos uploaded for proper Verification. The photos must be clear, good quality, and taken directly above fish.
1) Fish with Measuring Device -- One of the fish next to the approved measuring device with the Token. This should be taken from directly above the fish. It is recommended that you take multiple photos and choose the best one to upload to ensure you have a photo that will work.

2) Fish with "Reel-end" of fishing Pole -- And, 1 high quality photo of the fish next to the "reel-end" of your fishing rod. It is recommended that you take multiple photos and choose the best one to upload to ensure you have a photo that will work.
Make Sure: The Entire "Reel End" of the fishing Pole MUST be Visible, and the entire fish MUST be in the photo.

Do not take the photos from an angle or from the side.
This is an example of a “blurry photo” that could lead to disqualification, or lost length. The whole fish is not in the photo and it is a bad quality photo.
All the numbers on the tape measure must be visible if the contractors' tape measure is used. Do not place fish on top of device.
